Salutation! Who am I you say? I am an earnest bartender who has been through the chain of establishments without truly seeing
that passion necessary for a flourishing bar experience. Sit down and have one maybe three drinks while hoping that the atmosphere
and time spent will assist in your wind down for the evening, that is not my ideal of healthy drinking. What happened to that
joyful laughter and camaraderie that occurs because the bartender makes it their point to uplift the patron? My thoughts in the
matter are simple, there aren't enough bartenders being ousted for the nonchalant approach to bar service. The purpose of
hospitality is to anticipate one’s needs and execute.
A gentleman comes into a lounge and has a seat at the bar head slightly tilted downward with a look of exhaustion on his face.
The bartender on hand should say hello, How are you doing today? what should come next is genuine care and concern for a
person. To be vetted in this category should change the overview of the responsibilities in how to staff a bar.
The idea is to sell drinks and the duty is to create an experience. Now, how can you do that if the customer doesn't leave with a
positive mindset or at the very least, the thought of time well spent. A simple change can often be beneficial to the establishment,
consumer, and community that the bar services. When hiring a mixologist for business have a checklist, one that can identify a
personality or the lack there of and display empathy and a passion for the craft that will ultimately provide a joyful environment
and revenue for the business. What are we missing in this lifestyle of slanging drinks unaccompanied by exhilaration? Your thoughts!
